Microdermabrasion & Dermaplaning

What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a skin-revitalizing treatment that helps repair skin that is damaged from the sun, scars, acne and the unwanted effects of aging.  Microdermabrasion is a procedure that uses a diamond crystal tip wand or fine crystals combined with a controlled vacuum to exfoliate the skin. After the treatment, the skin has improved texture and softness, as well as fewer imperfections such as wrinkles and acne scars.

How does the treatment work?
The skin is cleansed to remove excess oil and dirt. One of our highly trained licensed medical aestheticians uses gentle abrasion with suction to remove (or peel) the dead, outer layer of skin in order to stimulate and reveal new healthy skin underneath. By  using a diamond crystal tipped wand over the area, the crystals abrade away old, dead skin cells, which the vacuum then picks up with gentle suction. This promotes the growth of collagen and new, rejuvenated skin. Moisturizers and sun block are then applied.

Will there be any downtime?
One of the advantages of Microdermabrasion is that it has no downtime. You can return to your normal routine and apply cosmetics directly after treatment.

What are the results?
The skin feels softer and appears younger. Minor wrinkles are improved by the stimulation of new collagen. Exfoliation improves small brown spots, uneven skin tone, acne and acne scars.

Who should avoid Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion should be avoided by those with recent viral infections, such as cold sores and shingles, those with eczema, sunburns or rosacea, those with auto-immune disorders, poor healing or excessive scarring and those with a history of diabetes or keloid formation. You must not have recently had laser surgery or used Accutane.

Instructions for before treatment:
Avoid Retin-A®, sun tanning or tanning creams for at least a week before treatment. Do not have other facial procedures, such as chemical peels, before treatment.

Microdermabrasion on the Go – 30 minutes – $75
Give us 30 minutes and we’ll slough away the dull and tired top layer of the skin to reveal a fresher, smoother, more radiant complexion. Erase spots and blemishes, unclog pores, and give your skin an overall treat. Don’t forget other parts of body such as an acne prone back.

Diamond Microdermabrasion – 45 minutes – $100
Diamond microdermabrasion relies on microdermabrasion tips covered in tiny diamonds to perform skin exfoliation. When the diamond microdermabrasion tip makes contact with the skin it abrades against the top layer gently removing the dead skin cells. The microdermabrasion machine then vacuums the loose dead skin cells away from the face. Diamond and crystal microdermabrasion peel procedures are exactly the same in that the treatment provider passes the wand over each area of your skin to expose the healthier luminous skin beneath; your aesthetician will determine which procedure is best for your skin type.  A light enzyme peel, masque and hand treatment is included.

Premier Diamond Microdermabrasion – 60 minutes – $140
The premier Diamond microdermabrasion includes the face, neck, chest & hands. Great for sensitive skin areas like those around the crow’s feet, the nose and the mouth, which are usually the areas that show the signs of aging first. Diamond microdermabrasion is a painless and quick procedure with low risks and side effects. Excellent for fine lines and sun damage, resistant whiteheads, and hyper pigmentation. A light enzyme peel, masque and hand treatment is included.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning helps to “refinish” the skin’s top layers through a method of controlled surgical scraping. The treatment removes the dead cellular layer on the skin, resulting in a smoother, brighter appearance.

The face is cleansed and a sterile dermaplaning blade is prepared. The blade will scrape off the dead skin, as well as the vellus hair (peach fuzz). Once the aesthetician has finished dermaplaning, a carbon dioxide ball is gently swiped across the skin. This provides a cooling effect, and will reduce any swelling that may have occurred. A chemical peel is applied that will impart upon the skin a nice glow, as well as provide skin hydration.

Unlike most exfoliating peel procedures, Dermaplaning uses no chemicals. However, the use of alpha hydroxyl acids may also be used for a deeper exfoliation. This treatment is known as a Micropeel. At only 45 minutes per session, it can be done during a “lunch break”.

The more often you do it, the better your skin will look, smooth skin is immediately apparent.  There is no downtime with this treatment. One will notice that his/her skin feels softer, looks brighter, and absorbs product faster. Women will notice that makeup is applied more evenly.

BioMedic Micropeel – 45 minutes – $110
The Micropeel is a peel that begins with dermaplaning which is a resurfacing of the skin done with a straight edge razor. After the skin has been resurfaced an acid peel is applied. The peel can range from lactic to 30% glycolic. The final step of the Micropeel is an application of dry ice called cryogenic therapy which will smooth the texture of the skin and close the pores. There is typically no down time with this peel.
