Today with the advancement in technology times have changed! The Museum Spa & Laser Center offers a Non-Surgical Eye Lid Lift. This laser procedure that has minimal down time, especially considering the results. Multiple treatments are recommended, but it is a relatively painless procedure and takes only about 30-45 minutes with 3-4 days of a mild sunburn effect.
How skin is tightened with Lasers - Fibroblasts are the major cells in the dermis which produce collagen and elastin fibers. The thickness of the dermis varies from person to person and is affected by age, exposure to sun, cigarette smoke and environmental pollution among other factors. With time, cross links are formed between the collagen strands rendering the fiber less and less elastic. This process leads to the first visible signs of aging on the face including uneven skin tone and texture, wrinkles and folds around the eyes and mouth. When fibroblast cells absorb light energy (i.e. from the laser), it is stimulated to become active and productive thus repairing defects in the skin by producing collagen remodeling. Lasers that stimulate fibroblasts, can be ablative lasers or non-ablative lasers. Ablative lasers vaporize the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin. Two types of lasers, the Pixel CO2 and the Pixel Perfect Micro Peel are ablative lasers. After the surface of the skin is ablated (vaporized), new skin forms in a matter of days.
